Every yacht is different.
We design tailored measurement campaigns.
SailADV delivers full-scale measurement campaigns for yachts and ships, providing the data required to verify performance, comfort, and compliance with design expectations.
Our engineers operate certified instrumentation and advanced acquisition systems to ensure accurate, repeatable, and traceable results — both during sea trials and at berth.
Each project follows a dedicated test plan developed in collaboration with shipyards, design teams, and classification societies, ensuring that every parameter is measured, validated, and correlated to its operational context.
Certified technicians and engineers for precise testing
Sea Trial Measurement & Validation
Execution of comprehensive onboard measurement campaigns across all sea-trial phases, including speed–power curve assessment, fuel-consumption characterization, and propulsion-performance validation. All activities follow IMO Resolution MSC.137(76) and BS EN ISO 19019:2015, ensuring that manoeuvrability, performance metrics, and environmental corrections meet internationally recognized sea-trial standards.
Manoeuvrability & Trials
Synchronized acquisition of speed, heading, and control-system dynamics to quantify handling performance, turning circles, yaw response, and course-keeping behaviour under defined sea-state and test-protocol conditions, in full alignment with IMO Resolution MSC.137(76) (Standards for Ship Manoeuvrability) and BS EN ISO 19019:2015 guidelines for planning, executing, and reporting sea trials.
Range Testing
Integrated measurement of speed, power output, fuel flow, and environmental parameters to determine vessel endurance, consumption curves, and optimal operating profiles across controlled test conditions, carried out in accordance with BS EN ISO 19019:2015 guidelines for the planning, execution, and reporting of sea trials.
Sea Trials Design & Coordination
Support to shipyards in defining test protocols, instrumentation layouts, and acceptance criteria. SailADV manages acquisition, sequencing, and reporting to guarantee consistency with contractual and class requirements.
Torque & Power Measurement
Installation of calibrated torque meter systems to measure delivered shaft power, enabling propulsion verification and class documentation during sea trials.
Engine Performance Evaluation
Characterization of engine behavior through direct measurement of torque, fuel rate, RPM, and exhaust parameters, with comparison to manufacturer specifications for efficiency and calibration validation.
Hydrodynamics & CFD Correlation
Integration of real-scale measurements with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models to validate hydrodynamic predictions and quantify hull efficiency with unmatched accuracy.
Hybrid Propulsion Analysis
Evaluation of energy-source interaction, power-flow balance, and dynamic efficiency in hybrid and fully electric propulsion architectures, including regeneration and load-sharing analysis.
Noise & Vibration Testing
Comprehensive onboard acoustic and structural-vibration analysis to ensure compliance with ISO and RINA Comfort Class standards, identifying critical frequencies, transmission paths, and diagnosing potential failure modes across machinery and structural components.
Comfort Assessment
Quantification of acoustic and vibration comfort using standardized measurement grids. Results are expressed through a Comfort Index supporting certification, warranty, and owner reporting.
3D Surveying & Photogrammetry
High-resolution 3D scanning and photogrammetric modeling of hulls, interiors, and structural components to capture precise geometries, verify as-built conditions, support engineering modifications, and provide digital references for refit, integration, and dimensional control.
Data acquisition is performed using SailADV’s proprietary H-Box technology, reviewed and validated by Lloyd’s Register for marine use and measurement reliability. The system provides full synchronization, redundancy, and real-time validation across all measurement channels, ensuring a proven benchmark for onboard data integrity during sea trials.
All measurements follow traceable, calibrated procedures compliant with:
IMO Resolution MSC.137(76) – Standards for ship manoeuvrability
BS EN ISO 19019:2015 – Instructions for planning, conducting, and reporting sea trials
ISO 15016 – Ship speed and power trials
ISO 2923 – On-board acoustic measurements
ISO 20283-5 – Ship vibration measurement and evaluation
RINA and Lloyd’s Register comfort and performance standards
Methodology and Certification
SailADV combines the rigor of professional measurement practice with the responsiveness of an onboard engineering team.
Our methodology unites real-scale measurement, advanced simulation, and digital data intelligence, creating a single European reference point for verification, optimization, and compliance across the yachting industry.
